NASHVILLE / VINTAGE SHOPPING GUIDE

When I visit a new city, I make it my mission to seek out the quirky individual shops that you won’t find anywhere else. The places that you can discover one-of-a-kind items which your friends will drool over, or pick up souvenirs and trinkets from your travels that you can proudly display in your home or closet. I love the thrill of never knowing what you’ll uncover and finding that special piece from a memorable trip. However, shopping for vintage can seem like a daunting experience; trying to look for pieces that will be wardrobe staples or items unique to that city. But luckily for you, I spent a week in Nashville searching for the best vintage shops so you don’t have to! See below for a selection of Nashville’s finest and click the link to take you through to each shop’s IG page.

EAST NASHVILLE

RELIK VINTAGE- 943B Woodland street.

A hip vintage warehouse located near the Five Points area in East Nashville. Full to the brim with vintage 80’s sweats, logo branded t-shirts from Air Jordan to Champion, overalls, military jackets, badges, pins & patches. You won’t leave here empty handed!

THE HIP ZIPPER  - 1008 Forrest street.

A vast selection of vintage items with a particular focus on 1950s-70s pieces. You’ll find a good selection of women’s accessories, handbags and shoes. Hip Zipper is run by a super helpful shop owner who comes with a cute and fluffy shop cat. A delightful store good enough for Reese Blutstein.

HIGH CLASS HILLBILLY - 4604 Galletin Pike.

A high end vintage boutique owned by country musician & songwriter Nikki Lane. Nikki’s passion for wearing unique vintage clothing and thrift store finds as a teenager turned into a business when she opened her shop in 2011. High Class Hillbilly certainly lives up to its name; you’ll find suede fringed skirts and jackets, cowboy boots, 1940’s tea dresses and piles of vintage denim (usefully sorted by size). If that’s not enough, pick up a one-of-a-kind bandanna, a vintage band t-shirt and some nice kids vintage. Prices are reasonable for a unique piece of Nashville vintage.

ANACONDA VINTAGE - 1062 East Trinity Lane.

Anaconda Vintage houses a community of vintage curators under one roof. This spot is a hidden gem, especially if you love the thrill of the hunt! A thrift store environment where prices are easy on the wallet with 80’s & 90’s jeans priced at $30 and great accessories from a mere $5. I picked up a perfect suede western tassel jacket for $80, which made my day!

STAR STRUCK VINTAGE - 604 Galletin Ave Suite 110.

One of Nashville’s best vintage stores for inexpensive and good quality vintage for both men & women. If you’re looking for that perfectly worn band or rock t-shirt, this is your spot. From Bruce Springsteen to Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin to the Backstreet Boys, the tees range from the 70’s - 00’s. Star Struck also offer a good range of 70’s denim, a small section of 50’s dresses, 80’s sweatshirts and plenty of cool men’s western shirts. There is also a refined selection of kids vintage clothing, with some great baby Denim jackets. I’m already regretting not buying the dead stock vintage Coca Cola bag I should have purchased! I’ll be back…

BLACK SHAG VINTAGE - 1220 Gallatin Ave.

Not only an amazing store for picking up one of a kind pieces, but an incredibly impressive space to boot. Shop here for collectable rock & band t-shirts, vintage Wranglers, Levi’s and all your cowboy boot needs. Make sure you check out the vintage vinyl selection and score the vintage Pucci dress I didn’t get! Black Shag is a vast store that I could have spent a few hours in; all it needed was a coffee shop! But don’t despair - you can also shop Black Shag Vintage online, which means you don’t have to be in Tennessee to pick up a piece of this place.

WEST NASHVILLE

PRE TO POST MODERN - 2110 8th Avenue Street.

The most amazing kitsch vintage shop selling everything from 50’s & 60’s furniture to collectable Star Wars figures and vintage Barbie dolls. They also offer a unique collection of quirky vintage clothing for men & women from ranging from the 80’s, 90’s to early 00’s. Perfect for fancy dress but also great to snag a true vintage treasure. Pocket money pieces and great to browse!

8TH AVENUE ANTIQUES MALL - 2015 8th Avenue Street.

A large and fun-filled shop which is full of individual vendors selling a mixture of brick-a-brac, clothing, books, posters, badges, furniture and homeware. This is a great place to visit if you like to rummage and find a bargain; items are priced well and you can pick up a great Nashville souvenir. I spotted some H-Bar-C western wear, 1950’s Levis, sanforized dungarees, vintage Wrangler and some cool vintage hunting wear. This is definitely a spot where you will find things that you never knew you needed! Like the giant brass horse paperclip that proudly sits on my bookshelf at home…

SAVANT VINTAGE - 2001 8th Avenue Street.

A cabin (literally) of cherry picked vintage which is packed from floor to ceiling with high-end and designer pieces. Find a fantastic selection of curated denim, workwear and western wear garments. Pieces can be a heavy hit on the wallet, but worth it for that special item to add to your wardrobe…The stuff that dreams are made of!
